WEEE Ireland Website

We've just finished a new site for WEEE Ireland, the body that is charged with administering the EU Directive on waste electronic material. To you and me it's the body that gathers the €20 we spend whenever we buy anything with a plug and battery. But to the environment, it's the body that is making Ireland a greener place. All those €20 are spent on dismantling old electrical equipment, and recycling the parts that are recyclable.
The site itself is gorgeous! No, I'm not in the mood for holding back on modesty today. It's a corporate site alright, but it's got a fun feel to it with the use of the icons on the home page. Also, it's a great example of a site that houses large amounts of content but yet has a very airy feel. Go on and have a look and then come back to me: www.weeeireland.ie
Another feature to note is the "find your local recycling depot". The client provided lists of local authorities around the country with contact details and opening hours and needed a solution of how to present this info. We created a nice Flash map where you can click on your county and get all the info presented to you in a nice box on the left. A nice example of how Flash can work better than a thousand words!
And finally...a member of the WEEE Ireland team has been trained in how to maintain this site using Dreamweaver. They regularly have new content and downloads to add to the site, so it's useful for them to have the skills in-house to do it.
All up? A nice looking site, well written - but working within a requisite amount of legal speak. A few funky features, and a happy client!
